Fabric Choices for a DIY X-Leg Bench

Hellooo friends! Today I need your help to make some fabric choices for a DIY project I have coming up for our new master bedroom.

I'd like to DIY an X-leg bench similar to the one below from a recent One Kings Lane sale (but has since expired). I'm just loving the idea of having a place to sit at the end of the bed and like the idea of having two small benches rather than one big one (just in case we want to use said benches somewhere else in the future). I'm all about flexibility in my decor. Other bench inspiration I'm loving here, here and here.

X Leg Bench Inspiration

So I really need y'all's help in choosing a fabric for my x-benches. I'm honestly torn between quite a few colors and patterns. So as a reminder, here's what our new master bedroom looks like.

Master Bedroom Update

The rug that you're seeing won't be the exact one we have in this room long term, but it will likely be grey with a pattern - so you get the idea. This rug is actually our Living Room rug, just moved up to the bedroom for placement since we know we'll want a grey rug in there!

And here's the fabric choices I've narrowed my list down to. Yes, 12 fabrics is narrowed down. I started with over 20 that I loved.

Fabric Choices

1. Gotcha Blue Twill Fabric // 2. Lattice Luna Fabric // 3. Canopy Blue Fabric // 4. Blue Polka Dots Fabric // 5. Indigo Laken Fabric // 6. Rico Grey Fabric // 7. Sterling Fabric // 8. Grey Laken Fabric // 9. Ikat Domino Flamingo Fabric // 10. Lulu Fabric // 11. Aptos Pink Fabric // 12. Desert Flower Fabric

So what do you think? Which one should I choose? I'm so torn!!

  1. I love 12, and I think this is a safe way to try it out in your house! You can always unscrew the cushion and pick something else if it doesn't work out.

  2. 9 or 12. Gives a pop of color.

  3. Number 9 and 6 are the ones that I like.

  4. I love me some X benches! We have a deep teal bench at the foot of our bed and I've found it quite versatile (and the color would actually go with your current design, too http://www.bravenewhome.com/wp-content/uploads/eclectic-master-bedroom.jpg). As long as you're not tufting your bench (which your inspiration photo says you aren't) you should be fine with a pattern. I LOVE #12 but I'm not sure it goes (I think you'd be a much better judge at that then me!).

  5. I love #9 and 12. Your X-benches are great! For the end of our bed, I re-purposed and old coffee table and added a tufted top. It really is nice to have a bench to sit on! Happy 2014.

  6. I have fabric #7 on chairs in my sunroom and I love it. It's a great fabric and I can totally picture it in your space.

  7. I think one of the pink ones. Would tie in nicely with the art over the bed and the pillow. And break up all the rest of the gray. I like 10 and 12 the best.

  8. I love number 9

  9. I really like number 5 and number 11 is jumping out at me, too.

  10. I vote #9. With your rug I would avoid bringing in another trellis like pattern, which many of these options are. I like #9 because it will make a fun statement and bring some pink to the foot of the bed!

  11. 7 or 8.

if you might use them elsewhere in the house, you want it to be neutral enough to go room wandering without clashing.

  13. Too many amazing choices! I love 12, but if you want something more neutral, then 5 or 8. Good luck choosing, but I don't think you could really go wrong with any of them.

  14. I love all of them! I think number 9 is my favorite! And that is a beautiful bedroom! I am doing a giveaway today and would love if you would stop by and check it out! http://www.thediaryofarealhousewife.blogspot.com/

  15. Ooh... Lots of good picks. I'm thinking I would pick one with some pink. So my top three would be 9, 10, and 12. Can't wait to see them!

  18. I'm liking number 11! I think pink for sure and I like the graphicness (not a word, I know) of it!

  19. Hmm, so hard. Part of me wants to play it safe. I mean what if you decide later you don't want pink. I like 9, and 10 the best. But if I were playing it safe I'd go with 5 and 8. Thanks so much for sharing on Worthwhile Wednesdays!
